TMS NextGen is a pioneering company based in Dubai, UAE. We provide clinical training and management of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation services to mental health clinics throughout the region. Our aim is to make TMS as a treatment option more accessible to patients in need through our provision of cutting-edge, evidence-based, effective and efficient management and training options to our clinical partners.

WHAT IS TMS?

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation which is FDA-approved to treat depression, OCD and other mental health conditions. It uses an electromagnetic coil to stimulate neurons in the limbic system which causes a release of neurotransmitters. The effectiveness of TMS has been shown to exceed that of medications and with a lower side effect profile. 

Also increases blood flow and glucose metabolism rise - acting as a short-term antidepressant effect

fMRI demonstrated improved functional connectivity, explaining long-term antidepressant effects

What We Offer

Business Partnership

We offer a partnership model for clinics interested in establishing a TMS service. In this model we will partner and invest in your center in order to facilitate purchasing, training and clinic management. Partner clinics will benefit from our brand an an official TMS NextGen center and from the expertise of our clinician experts. 

In addition, partner clinics benefit from our exclusive quotations and priority service from TMS manufacturers.  Priority on maintenance and on early access to newly developed protocols and accessories is also provided. Partners also benefit from our marketing leading higher patient flow, as well as our quality control monitoring and collaborations on research and conferences.

TRAINING

 BASIC TRAINING

 Our basic training goes beyond the basic training provided by most TMS manufacturers when a device is purchased. We provide a 1 day hands-on primer at your clinic location or at our training headquarters that covers all aspects of how to safely and effectively use your new TMS machine. 

     ADVANCED TRAINING

    In addition to the training provided in basic training. Our 2 day intensive trainings will get you prepared to launch and fully operate your new TMS service. This includes providing you gold-standard treatment protocols and safety procedures. We also provide useful off-label treatment protocols that would not be standard on TMS machines. 

     We will also provide our rigorously developed screening, monitoring and safety measurement tools for use in daily TMS practice. We give advice about effectively managing day to day TMS clinical practice. After advanced training you will continue to have access to our experts for support and advice.

    WHO ARE WE?

    Dr. Abdullah Habib

    CEO and Chief Scientific Officer

    Dr. Abdullah Habib graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of MissouriSt. Louis, a Masters in Clinical Child Psychology from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and a Doctorate degree in Psychiatry at the University of Glasgow where he was placed in both the Medical department and the institute of Neuroscience & Psychology. He also has a Clinical Certificate in Clinical Psychopharmacology from the British Association of Psychopharmacology in Cambridge. He is trained in a variety of treatment and diagnostic methodologies such as brain stimulation, brain imaging, psychometrics, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.

    Dr. Habib has been formally trained in brain stimulation and brain imaging at the university of Glasgow one of the world’s top neuroscience centers. Dr. Habib has over 8 years of experience in the fields of TMS and other brain stimulation modalities and is actively involved in brain stimulation clinical research with the aim of making brain stimulation treatment more efficient and more accessible to different groups of patients.

    Together with Dr. Mohammad Alsuwaidan, he established the first TMS NextGen operational site at the MindWell center in Kuwait where he is the Director of Clinical Neuropsychology responsible for developing all clinical protocols related to TMS.

    Dr. Habib has lectured at the University of West Scotland and the University of Glasgow teaching and supervising both Psychology and Medical students. He is also the founder of the Autism Research Group at the University of Glasgow.

     

    Dr. Mohammad Alsuwaidan

    Chief Medical Officer and VP of Partnerships and Outreach

    Dr. Alsuwaidan is a Consultant Psychiatrist, Founder and Clinical Director of MindWell center in Kuwait and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Canada. He completed his psychiatry residency training with advanced training in mood & anxiety disorders and medical education at the University of Toronto. He also trained in mood disorders at Stanford University and Tufts Medical Center. He completed a Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is certified in public health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners in the United States.

    Dr. Alsuwaidan has extensive clinical training in TMS having trained with Dr. Jonathan Downar in Toronto, one of the preeminent TMS researchers at the global level. Together with Dr. Abdullah Habib he established the first TMS NextGen operational site at the MindWell center in Kuwait and since then has supervised the treatment of numerous TMS patients in various protocols achieving excellent response and remission rates.

    Dr. Alsuwaidan is widely-sought internationally as a speaker and educator in mental health. He is very active in improving mental health literacy globally through social media where he has a built a large following of over 85K on his verified Instagram account.

    Dr. Alsuwaidan has previously served in numerous clinical and leadership positions in psychiatry and has received many prestigious awards for his work.

     

    Dr. Samer Makhoul

    VP of Training and Education

    Dr. Samer Makhoul is an experienced UK certified consultant psychiatrist at Al-Reem Hospital in Abu Dhabi. He obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2006 and higher specialized training (CCT) in Adult Psychiatry and Addictions in 2010. He has also been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrist UK (FRCPsych) in 2018 as mark of distinction and recognition of his contributions to the field of Psychiatry. He also received a Certificate of training in Psychopharmacology from the British Association of Psychopharmacology as well as a postgraduate certificate (PGcert.) in Autism from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK.

    Dr. Makhoul worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the National Health Service (NHS) prior to moving the UAE in 2013 to work with AlNoorHospital (MediClinic currently)as Head of the Psychiatry Department, Chief of Medical Specialties and Chair of the Education and CME Department. He later spent more than 5 years at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology (ACPN), one of the leading psychiatric services in the private sector in the UAE. During his time at ACPN, Dr. Samer held various positions including Multidisciplinary Service Director, Head of the Psychiatry Department, and Deputy Chief Medical Officer.

    Dr. Makhoul is very well known regionally as an expert in developing and administering high-quality medical education events and conferences including one of the most-respected and well-attended regional mental health conferences The Masterclass. In addition, he regularly develops and oversees numerous very highly-rated medical education programs with regional and global government and industry partners.

     

    Mr. Fawaz Khalaf

    Mr. Fawaz Khalaf is the Founder and CEO of WeCare Kuwait, a leading regional healthcare facility management company in the Arabian Gulf region established in 2017. Since then, it has undergone rapid growth by becoming the largest medical business management company in Kuwait, supporting 45+ clients, from smaller clinics to large hospitals.     Mr. Khalaf has experience with TMS logistics and operations having worked on establishing the first operational TMS NextGen site in Kuwait at the MindWell center. This includes expertise in importation, licensing and appointment and financial management.

    Mr. Khalaf has previously worked at one of the world’s leading and largest petroleum sector multinational companies Haliburton as a Senior Consulting Project Manager for 10 years. During this time he enhanced time management work flow leading to much more efficient work processes and administrative conditions. It was at this time that he was inspired to start up WeCare, the first medical business management and consultancy in Kuwait.
